About SouthPark

What makes SouthPark unique

SouthPark grew out of pastureland once owned by Governor Cameron Morrison and took its name from the mall that opened there in 1970, when the site sat at Charlotte's edge. Since then the district has filled in with office towers, hotels, condos and leafy streets of established homes, becoming the city's second hub for shopping and dining.

The energy now is about getting out of the car. The SouthPark Loop, a planned three-mile urban trail, is being built segment by segment, and Symphony Park begins a major renovation this fall. Add luxury flagships at SouthPark Mall and a steady stream of new restaurants, and the neighborhood feels both polished and newly in motion.

Why people are talking about it

  • SouthPark Loop: a planned ~3-mile urban trail with a 14-foot path
